This Winter, it’s full steam ahead at the Boathouse as we lay forth plans for our finest Christmas and New Years celebrations yet. Since the government eased restrictions in July, we have resumed our regular output of functions and live entertainment, allowing the restaurant to reach its full potential for the first time since early 2020. The difficulties posed by closures, curfews and regulations became a platform from which we could develop ideas for 2021, shaping it into one of our most ambitious years to date.
Live music has made a welcome return, as faces old and new have joined us to play the COVID blues away. Our re-imagined open mic sessions have encouraged local musicians to collaborate and perform after a long hiatus. Newly-wed couples have shared their first dance in our venue after months of delay and anticipation. A sense of relief permeates the air as guests reunite and make up for time lost to lockdown.
We’ve hosted several exciting new events alongside popular mainstays, such as live music and gin tastings. In June, we welcomed former World Cup footballer Jacob Laursen to the Boathouse, where they took part in a Q&A session with fans. Jacob would return the following month, hosting a presentation as part of our first ‘Back on Track’ business networking event. We’ve also provided for all manner of functions, including anniversaries, birthdays and corporate team building events.
So, where do we go from here? Well, there’s still plenty to look forward to in the coming months as we head into December and beyond. You can find a detailed breakdown of our events diary on our website, but here’s a small preview to tide you over. We’ll be kicking off the festivities on Thursday 2nd December, with a Latin DJ, followed by a great line-up of themed evenings and live music leading up to New Year’s Eve. So join us for Greek Night, 80s Night and the Rat Pack Christmas Show!
